How to refresh an expired cPanel license – Unable Read License File
You get an error like unable to read license file when your cPanel license has been terminated or suspended. This is usually due to late payment and the license has been suspended. Gain access to the cPanel server again either by WHM or cPanel you will need to refresh the cPanel license.
Refresh cPanel License
You will need to log in as root to your VPS server or dedicated server and run the below command. You must be the root user to do this:
/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
So, running this command in the ssh console cPanel should return a message. This will be confirmation that the license has been updated or if the action failed. If the action failed please contact our support team for assistance.

When a cPanel license is suspended or expired you won’t be able to log in to cPanel. You won’t be able to use webmail. You also won’t be able to collect email by POP3 or IMAP but websites will still work.
