Updates to the Two-Factor Authentication System
We are going to be updating the Two-Factor authentication system we use to better serve our customers. We will be replacing the old Time-Based token service with Duo:Security. Time-Based tokens will still be activated alongside the new Two-Factor system trial. We plan to trial Duo:Security for Q1 of 2018.
Why are we looking to change the Two-Factor authentication system?
Accessibility. As First2Host has grown we have accumulated new customers from all types of backgrounds with all different types of needs. Not every person has a mobile phone, not everyone has sight and not everyone can read. Duo:Security offers push notifications where the end user can click “Approve” to automatically login to the client area. It also offers voice messages and text messages making our Two-Factor Authentication system assessable to everyone who wants to use it.
How can I get started with it now?
We’re currently trialing the new system with our customers. You can get set up by visiting the security page in your client area. That page is located at https://www.first2host.co.uk/clientarea.php?action=security
From that page and under Two-Factor Authentication click the “Click here to Enable” button. Then in the popup box select Duo Security. Finally, click “Get Started”
On the next page, you are given a one-time passcode. Keep this safe. It’s the only time you will ever see this code and you will require it if you lose access to your authentication device. We cannot stress how important it is to keep this code safe. Please, don’t keep the code on your PC. People with access to this code have access to your services, billing, and support.
The next time you log in to your client area you will be guided through the setup step by step. If you notice any errors or have any comments please report these to our support team so we can get those resolved for you.
